Hi, I have  DIR-636L Hardware Version: A1 Firmware Version: 1.00OR, it worked as expected and I often turned on and off the wifi.

After a while I could not login to the admin page. I did the 10 second reset procedure, now I have to insert at the login page password and characters from picture too.
I leave the password blank, retype the characters from picture and hit login button (yes I am hitting it with mouse pointer, not keyboard enter).
Trying it on midori 0.4.3., firefox 37.0.2 but no success, always getting the "Invalid password, please try again." message.
can you help me please?

What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again. (For older generation routers.)

I am running on fast optical internet
I wrote what browsers I tried: midori 0.4.3., firefox 37.0.2. I am running on latest Kubuntu.
Till few weeks ago, everything worked fine, therefore i didnt try to update FW.

You might update the FW, there has been a few builds since:
