OS :- Ubuntu 15.04 [Specs:- i5 4210u + 8GB RAM]

Previous Modem+Router(where VPN worked) :- Netis DL4311
Current Modem+Router(where VPN does not work/keeps disconnecting) :- D-Link DSL-2750U

I bought the 2750U Modem+Router a few days ago and everything seems to work fine except that I cannot connect to the VPN. Everytime I connect to the VPN, it either does not connect at all or connects and disconnects after about 10-15 seconds. I have never faced this issue before. This happens with both my laptops(the other laptop is running Windows 7).

What can I do to about it?
Do I need to change something in the settings?

Please HELP.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your modem? Look at the sticker under modem.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the modems web page under status.
  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the modem?
  • Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the modem. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives.
  • Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address. Try setting a Static IP address instead.

PC 3rd Party Security Software Configurations
  • Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

Hardware Version :- V1
Firmware Version :- IN_1.02
Region :- India
Connected Wirelessly to the modem
Unable to find "DHCP reserve IP address" in my router. Will try that later.
IP address is set to be auto-obtained. Cannot set Static IP because ISP does not support it.
Channel mode is set to "Auto"

You can set your PCs and devices to static or reserved.

Let us know how it goes. If you can't get it working, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
