I haven't quite got my head around optimising dual channel routers yet. My 880L has 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies. I think I read it has beam forming (which I admit I don't fully understand... is that some combination of two frequencies?).
My setup is that my phone (G900F) can run on AC, and so can my Macbook Pro. But there are devices in my household that can only run on N. I have been running different SSIDs for 2.4 and 5, with 5 set to AC only, and 2.4 handling all the other devices.
Do I stand to benefit from making the SSIDs the same? And what impact will setting 5GHz to operate with other specs (N, G) have on my nice clean AC connection?
Maybe my knowledge is limited. But if I were to be able to bond the channels, or otherwise configure the router for better performance, I'd like to know what I need to know

If that makes sense.
