Hi all 3 of my xbox 360's have been capping out at around 20-23mb download instead of 125mb while the upload is still at 12mb. I use dynamic dhcp on my network. my roommate noticed this first about 2 months ago but I have been playing mostly on my xbox one and pc which connect normally. the issue still shows up if I disconnect everything and only have 1 xbox 360 on the network after I restart the modem/router and xbox. I saw related issues like this mentioning the wireless connection but my systems are all hardwired.

Xbox tech support said I should try to set static ip addresses but that's going to be a hassle since xbox's usually forget stuff periodically and you would have to reenter the info every couple months.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

• What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
• What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

How are you determining the speed?
360s connect at 100Mb on LAN wired so seeing lan xfer speed will probably not be the same as your ISP download speeds.
Do you get ISP download speeds with a wired PC?

ARE you using any QoS settings? DIR-645/835/868L/865L/826L Gaming and QoS for XBL

I signed into the router it told me

Hardware Version : A1
Firmware Version : 1.00

I have cable with Comcast cable its 105mb with 20mb speed boost so my PC and Xbox one usually connect 120-125mb. On my pc I use speedtest.net. on the Xbox one and on the Xbox 360 I use the detailed network statistics.

when I go to status on the router the names of the xbox 360's don't show up instead they show as XBOX-SYSTEMOS I thought that was odd.

How do I see the speeds the consoles are connecting to the router with on the router?

Well if there wired, then 100Mb would be the max connection rate on the router. Are you sure the consoles are wired? When wired the router assumes automatically connect rate speeds of what the max rate is supported on the device per handshake routing. Post a picture of the 360s network stats?


Network details on the 360s may not be fully accurate either.

I would recommend updating FW and setting up some QoS rules...

Ok, so i just checked my 360 which is wired in the network status test. I'm also capped at 25Mb on the Down test. I get my ISP spec speed of 3Mb on the UP. I'm not currently using the 868L as a main host router as i'm using a different model router, so this confirms to me that the 360 maybe capped it self and the router is not where the cap is happening...

ok ill update the FW when i get off work at 6:30 am and Ill post pics of the network stats of the 360's then. Trying to finish up cooking before I have to head out to work. I will also try  connecting direct to the modem and bypass the router and see if that effects any. When I was talking to Microsoft last weekend they made it sound like it was an issue on my end. I also have friends who have 360's that are connecting faster than 25mb. oh my 360's are all the 360s if that matters any but I use to get faster than 20-23mb's on them.

Ok let us know if the FW update helps. I'm on a 50/3 here and I get that on my wired PCs and wireless iPhone. I can only presume the issue is with the 360s. Your getting these speeds on the 868L and same for me using a different router so to me it says the problem is the 360...

Just FYI, I had some friends check there speeds on the 360 as well and they report 25Mb. One has the same router as you do. The other is using a DGL-5500. I wonder if this is a issue with the XBL services or o the console in some way.

Hey sorry for the late response. My modem took a crap yesterday and now using a modem/router combo from Comcast. And my pc says 109mb while my Xbox 360's are only getting 10-19mb but I have noticed the modem/router they gave me sucks and My devices get varying speeds just by rebooting them. So we know its not an issue with our hardware wonder if its a software cap they imposed onto the 360's. Bright news I had extended warranty on my modem so no am waiting for RMA.

What is the Mfr and model of this new modem your using? 

I'm thinking the speeds seen on the 360's are having to due with either something on the consoles or there services.

Im using a Arris TG862 from Comcast until my Linksys DPC3008 arrives on sat/Monday.

Ok. The Arris is a router too. Just FYI.

The DPC is a cable modem only which is preferred.
