So I haven't used my router in over 5 years, but now I need to use it. I reset it & downloaded the latest firmware & loaded it from my routers page.
After some small hiccups, I finally connected fine to my PC so far & good speeds & all.

I used Youtube videos for the DIR-655 setup guide to walk me through.
They were all outdated though, is there anything new I should know with the latest firmware that normally wouldn't be mentioned during the setup when the router was first made?

• What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
• Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
• What region are you located?

Hardware version is A3.
& I downloaded the latest 1.37NA version.
I'm in California if it matters.


A few years back, people said to not upgrade & to try & stay on firmware version 1.21, but that was a few years back.
Does this newer firmware have any problems or downsides to it compared to version 1.21?

The last version fixed issues with Samsung phone devices. You can go thru the release notes for each version and see what has been done since v1.21. I have a Rev A on v1.11. Found it in a 2nd hand store.
