Bricked DIR-632 router
« on: July 31, 2015, 07:35:37 AM »

I've been having connection problems with my router for awhile now. The router would occasionally lose wifi and I'd have to fix it by powering off/ on. Those connection problems became much more frequent (several times a day) and even began to effect my wired connections. I decided to try and update the firmware to see if it would help. During this update, a roommate decided to unplug power from the router. This seems to have bricked it.

I found info about the dlink emergency room and have followed the steps to get to the page and upload the firmware file. My problem is that it never seems to finish loading the file. It just sits there, loading. I've let it go on for half an hour with no changes. Tried with both the 1.03 update and original 1.01 firmware.

Any ideas to make it go through? Using Internet Explorer like it recommended

Try using FF?
Be sure to disable any browser add-ons and PC security software...

Just DL'd firefox to try. Turned off all AV and firewall like you said.

Firefox appears to have worked. Oddly though, when I uploaded the file, it never gave me the success page. Instead it brought up a "lost connection page". After trying to upload it a few times and having the same thing happen, I decided to try to connect to the browser via hardwire and after a few attempts it loaded the router page and let me log on.

Thank you so much! I'll let you know if there's any other problems.
