Shareport on Windows 10
« on: September 23, 2015, 08:05:12 AM »

Just updated one of my computers to Windows 10. Shareport runs, and my printer is detected, but it will not connect. The message is 'Connection to <printer name> failed'.

I have a DIR-825 (version A). I am running the latest firmware and Shareport versions. The proper printer driver is installed. Connect.exe is allowed access in my firewall.

On my Windows 7 computer, no problems.

Can D-Link or anyone help with this?

Hmm..i haven't tried this yet since upgrading one of my PCs to 10. I'll check it out when I get a chance.
Did you upgrade to 10 while you already had SP installed? You might try removing SP then re-installing it and see...
Ensure your printer drivers have been removed as well and re-installed with the latest updated drivers.

I tried the uninstall/reinstall idea, but got the same result. Reinstalled printer - same

I also tried the various compatibility mode options with no luck

I tried disabling the firewall - no help there either

I presume there maybe a compatibility issue with SP and Windows 10.
What version of SP are you using?

According to the 'about' box: Version 3.1.0 R1 (SXUPTP Driver : 3.4.6.0)

Seems to be the latest one from what I can find on the website

That fixed it - thanx for your help

FYI - when I check the website for updates on the DIR-825, it only shows version 3 (same for the DIR-855, which I checked by mistake)

What Rev is your 825?
What FW versions are currently loaded on each router?
I recommend always manually checking D-Links web site for FW updates.
Follow this to apply any: Link> >FW Update Process

Glad v4 worked.  ;)

I have version A1

firmware is 1.13NA

only have the one router (the 825)

I see that the 825 has reached end-of-life, so I don't suppose there will be any more updates

thanx again for the quick replies

Hi All,

I have a similar issue that started after a recent windows update.  I was running windows 10 X64bit and have my printer also setup wirelessly through the shareport plus utility.  This setup was working fine.  2 days ago windows rolled out a cumilitive update - KB3097617 and now my printer shows up as available - but when I try to connect - it says failed to connect to printer.  When i uninstalled the KB - I am now able to connect to the printer, but if updates pick up the missing KB and auto installs it I'm back to the same problem.
            1) Anyone have the same issue?
            2) is this a dlink issue or MS?
            3) This is a work around - anyone have a better idea on how to approach this?

Thanks
Kumar

Running  :
               - DIR890L - latest firmware (1.08)
               - Share port plus 4.40

Maybe a MS issue. I recommend that if you uninstall the one update and the printer works again, hide this one update from being installed.

What is the details of this KB? Any information regarding what it is?

I have the same issue but with a twist. After I uninstalled the utility I can not install it again anymore !
"This app has been blocked for your protection" - says when I want to install.
It is because of the digital signature. When I check the properties of any executable in the package I can see the following "A certificate was explicitly removed by the issuer".
I tried all of the possible solutions that was available online, but still no luck...
Can anyone (preferably D-Link) help ?

What windows version are you using?
If you reboot the PC and hit F8 right after the post BIOS screen, does it display a text menu?
Is there a driver enforcement option listed by chance here?
