How does your NAS get its IP address, DHCP or fixed IP?  Also where are you trying to access your NAS from, local network or internet?

All our NAS boxes are on fixed IP addresses outside the DHCP server range and we have no problems using FTP - in fact that is one of our backup methods.

If you are trying to access the NAS from outside your local network are you sure that your ISP is allowing the FTP ports to be open?  Some do and some don't.  Another thing to consider when trying to access anything from the internet is your external IP address and how you find it.

If you are trying from the internal network then try using the IP address of the NAS in FileZilla rather than the name.  Also make sure you have the correct password (remember it is case sensitive) and username.  The defaults for FileZilla should work without problems unless you have some strange way that you have setup the NAS FTP server.

Got it, I needed to setup passive mode on the 320L.

Good, it is usually the simple things that trip people up.
