DCS-932L has solid blue light, won't reset
« on: November 14, 2015, 05:50:01 AM »

Hi, I have had a D-Link DCS-932L camera for quite some time, almost 4 years now, and have not had any issues with it whatsoever. The other day, however, I moved it from the location it was in, back to my daughter's bedroom which is where I usually have it. When I plugged it in, it worked well (wireless) for that night. Then the next day my app notified me that the camera was disconnected, which it has done before, but always reconnects right away. This time it didn't though. When I got home, I checked out the camera and the blue WPS light is solid, making the Reset button glow blue as well. I haven't tried a firmware update anytime recently, so it shouldn't have been a broken connection during an update. I have tried several times to unplug it for a bit and plug it back in, but the blue light instantly comes on. I have tried both hard wired to the router and wireless. I have also tried Hard Resetting the camera to no avail, have held down the button for over a full minute and nothing happens. Any ideas as to what could be happening to the camera? Or is it just a goner?

Thanks, Ryan

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?

These cameras default ip is 192.168.0.20. Set you pc to a static ip of 192.168.0.100, LAN cable connect the PC to the camera and try to see if you can access the cameras web page. If not, I presume the camera is a goner.  :-\

Sorry it took so long, it's been hectic around here.
Router is a Netgear R6300
I am using AP/Infrastructure Mode if that's what you are asking about the modes
Unfortunately I don't understand what you mean by setting my pc to a static IP. Also, are you saying to connect the cat5 cable from the camera directly to the PC?

Thank you for your help FurryNutz

Yes, and set a static IP address ON the PC as well and attempt to gain access to the recovery page on the camera and send down the FW file, can send the prior or most current version of FW.

FurryNutz,

How might I be able to set a static IP on my PC? :-/ I tried to google it, but I couldn't get anything recently.

FInd the Networking properties and then find the wired adaptor settings with in. RIght click on the adapter and go to properties. On the general tab there is a listing of items to select from, find the IPv4 TCP/IP listing and select this and go into properties. There will be two sections, Auto Obtain and Manual. Select manual and input 192.168.#.49 as the IP address, 255.255.255.0 for the subnet. Select OK or Save. Gateway and DNS isn't needed.

Ok, did all that. I used 1 in place of the #, didn't know what else to put there. I have camera plugged in, still solid blue light in back, solid red light up front. I tried to go to the MyDlink.com/device page, which is where I usually get to the settings for the camera and stuff but all I get is a constant loading page. Is there another place I can go to get the recovery page?

Thank you

I believe 192.168.0.49 should be used. Then if you have the cable connected from the PC to the camera, input 192.168.0.20 into a web browser. I think the cameras web page should appear following this:
Disconnect Power
Press and hold "Reset", connect Power and hold Reset until the blue LED goes out (about 8 seconds).
    Release reset
    Configure your computer to 192.168.0.x
Fire up a web browser and connect to 192.168.0.20
Upload your new firmware in the emergency web interface

Unfortunately I just keep getting The Connection Has Timed Out. I've tried resetting it. I'm thinking this camera is out of commission. It's held on a long time, but it may be time to call it. If you have any more idea, I'm up for trying them, if not, I'll just call it good. Thank you.

Ok, if that failed then I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
