DCS-932LB1 connects wired, but not wirelessly
« on: December 05, 2015, 10:16:41 AM »

I set up 2 of these DCS-932LB1, connected wired. set up everything including email motion alerts, working fine.  I went to move the camera to a non-wired location, and now they will not connect wirelessly.  Already had the firmware updated when it was connected wired.   WPS not fully working.  WPS light flashes blue, red light turns to solid Green, then Red, then Green, and finally back so solid Red.
I find this frustrating because I've already got two other cameras working just fine, at a different location other than these 2.

Any idea's?  Maybe going to a different model number?

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool: 192.168.#.93 and .94 and so on.  DHCP

Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com

The usual procedure is to set up the wireless configuration without any encryption, and get it connecting (and keeping connected) reliably, and then when you are satisfied; then apply encryption.  Troubleshooting an encryted connection has too many uncertainties and takes way too long to get working.  It is also worth knowing that, at least on the A version, keeping a stable connection over the long term is unlikely.  I have a mechanical timer on the power supply of my camera set to interupt power and cause a reboot every 24 hours.  This minimizes downtime to one day, when I am away from home for a long time.
My .02 worth,

Bob

I agree with testing with WPA disabled to test and get configuration going. However if users are having to power cycle cameras using timers, this means there is an issue with either the configuration or signal quality between the camera and main host wifi. I have had a 933L be online for days and months at a time with out having to power cycle it. Unless I'm testing routers and other things, the only reason why I have to power cycle the camera would be to re-establish a connection with a different router I have put online using same SSID name and PW. I find that some routers won't let the camera connect after going online with the router until the camera is power cycled once. However everyday usage, the camera is online and works well with out needed any power cycling on a daily basis.

I've tested many routers, D-Link and Non D-Link and the camera works well with out daily power cycling. My 2 cents.  ::)

@FurryNutz...I have had it happen to me on at least three occasions; and I KNOW that they were not due to power outages (blinking clock syndrome).  The mechanical timer workaround was compliments of a radio station technician who got tired of it happening at a remote transmitter site.  He used the dlink camera (a 932l) to monitor the meters on the transmitter, and would have to call out a technicion to go out to unplug and replug the camera.  He did us ups equipment on the computer equipment at that site.  If your 932l does not hang, then you either go to church more often then I do, or perhaps you should spend more time at Las Vegas.  :)

What are these transmitter sites? These have any radio frequency signals?

AH no, I've visited LV on occasion. I go for the food and the sites is all. LOL
