I have decided to buy a router that can hold many devices, stream HD , give a good ping for gaming and has an acceptable range. So i bought the 890L, it was the worse mistake in my life, so much money for a headache... I have called D-link tech support and they are the most incompetent technicians ever, I live in Dubai and   They redirect to Cairo the calls in which they only ask me to do a hard reset... They only know how to reset, they dont even want to know whats happening its just resets with them. Any way im not a IT guy, i can only workout stuff using google and manuals.
I have a broadband PPPoE dynamic IP address with Etisalat, i used to have a Belkin device that never needed a reset, NEVER.
But since i bought the 890L it disconnects, globe flashes red even when there is connection, sometimes go white but then crashes when im in mid game ( world of tanks blitz on Ipad ) ...
Please help, i tried everything, stayed on the phone for hours with these reset people in Cairo...
I have nowhere else to turn
Btw firmware is 1.08
HW is A1

Im very sure its not the firmware, its either a faulty router or a bad setup....
Im only wondering if anyone can figure out whats the problem, like should i share the ipv6 with ipv4 ?
Reconnect always on ? On demand ? Never ?
Ipv6 auto detection or PPPoE ?

Ensure Alwayd On is enabled.
Set Local Connection Only for IPv6 and test.

I set it up For PPPoE (which is my connection type) it worked for 15 min then crashed again...

Have you checked the logs to see why it crashes? I don't know anything about PPPoE though, so can't help with the ISP side, but I suggest you check with them too.

I know some PPPoE services require a "always on" connection. This would be the "Reconnect Mode" and "Max Idle Time" under Settings > Internet. You could ask your ISP what it should be, or look to see how you had it configured on the Belkin.

@FurryNutz  Any info on how the logs work on the DIR-890L? I am using this emulator, and I see settings to save the log, or email the log, but not to view it. Ideas?

PS. Props to Dlink for keeping their emulator database up to date. Makes support SO much easier.

Ya I haven't played much with the log since they did away with the display on the UI from the old days. I suppose I need to set up a syslog server and a email notification to see what goes on.

Well that's kind of silly. If your router is having issues (the point of looking at logs) how would it send the log out? And yea, i'm not a fan of flashy UI's. Heck, I sometimes prefer CLI but you don't get that on many consumer devices these days.

i know...they went with some simplification on the new UI. Mixed reviews.
