LG Arena + DIR-655 = Connection problems
« on: July 10, 2009, 02:31:24 PM »

My common-law wife just bought this nice little phone called Arena, and she wanted me to config it to work with DIR-655 so she can make some surfing over wlan in home. I did, and i did everything about 10 times, but no go. Allways some connection problems if connecting at all. Nothing helped so i did some googling and of course i found something like THIS... Wlan connection problems with d-link routers. Aargh..
It seems like this router is full of surprises, and really not good ones.
Never had any device this bad/problematic, and believe me i have had many...

Too tired to try find some solution in every function that should work, but dont work without some tweaking, and propably dont still work like it should!

This router is just ***not to my expectations***  >:(

Feel free to modify my change to something more use, just don't use profanity, and especially don't circumvent the profanity filter.

No, that seems just fine. I think everyone can see what i was talking about, espesially when it needed some filtering..  ;D
I have been very untroubled with all this issues this device have, but enough is enough...

Have you considered it being an Arena issue?

Of course like every other issues.. Everyone who have tried it with other routers too have no problems. Really dont understand why i should consider it to be Arena problem with this info. Anyways, it seems to be the way to go here.
It might be Arena problem, or maybe environment, but why not this router?

Because the Arena is the new thing there and other clients seem to connect just fine.

Do you have MAC filtering enabled perhaps? Or does the Arena have 'b' wireless and is that disabled on your router.

Please... Everything is the way it shoud work with no probs. I did borrow old DI-524 from my friend and configured it like i did with DIR-655. No problems. With 655 and Wireless b/g it work about one page load and then no pages work anymore. Theres nothing in logs etc, it just stop working. If i reboot Wi-Fi from Arena it works ok again about few seconds (can get one page open and thats it...).

I have an HTC Touch Diamond and it connects OK. Just like my 2003 PDA... How are your router settings Some DHCP devices need a little help by turning on "Always broadcast", multicast/unicast settings OK?

Go to "Advanced Wireless" and see if you have WLAN Partition checked. If so, uncheck it and see what happens.

Demonized's suggestion of checking if you have network filtering turned on is a good one too.

Either, or both of these scenarios will prevent your device from seeing the network.

Edit: Maybe not the WLAN check box so much. I know that when I had that box checked, I couldn't see my wireless printer but methinks this is a different colored horse.

No network filtering
Always broadcast on
Wlan partition off
Wireless mode n/g
Auto WPA/WPA2 TKIP and AES

Didnt work. Tried few other combinations too with no luck. Tired to this try and see, disable and enable fix hunt with this router and have it no more.  ;D
No more D-link for me, for now at least...
Normally i like to configure and tweak this hardware and settings, but with this product it lead to nowhere. As i said before, enough is enough. Have to draw the line somewhere or i will bang my head on the wall forever and get nothing but headache.

Maybe there is nothing wrong in this product but other devices are just so bad that they just dont work with it. Hope they (other brands) fix them all fast so this router can really show how good it is...  :P
Hope someone clean the air too so theres no malfunction radiowaves there ruining d-link's pure sharp signals.

Or maybe it's just me...

I took a brief look at this phones user manual. There was something about automatic internet configuration by calling a number, but that may have been only for 3G - or something. I don't suppose this phone has WI-FI protected setup? I've been able to setup a Blackberry, a Windows handheld PC, and a Nintendo DS on the DIR-655. Have you tried using the guest zone? Your phone is supposed to be wireless b/g, which means it should work if you have the router configured for g/n. Have you tried changing the router settings to b/g only just for grins? Do you know if the phone can use WPA encryption? Is it possible that it will only recognize WEP security? Sounds like you are fed up. Sorry, Dude.

Yup, im sorry too. I did give up with this router and its now in new owner who does not need nothing but working gigabit wired connection and basic wlan.

Arena have Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g with WEP- WPA-PSK/2 support. It just didnt work with any settings i tried. Didnt try with WEP because that not the way to go anyways...

Ahhh, I just love happy endings. hehe

Xinot, you give up too easily. You're supposed to keep trying until you reach the point where you stomp the router and/or phone into tiny little router/phone meatballs. Not SELL it to someone else. You make us all feel so - useless. And to think, I had so much more "nothing" to offer. Oh well, I'm Applauding you for Honesty.
