Focus Problem
« on: January 10, 2016, 12:05:17 PM »

My 'Focus' is off.. blurred some.

I haven't checked it in awhile, part of my home system and I am surprised to find the focus off. I'm a PC builder and did the MyDlink FW update that was available and no improvement. MyDlink, 202L and IP page controls.. nothing changes my focus even where focus adjustment is available there is no control changes functionality.
This is a shelf placed camera indoors and oddly enough as murphy's law goes, I'm over the year by 2 months and the focus was fine last look about 4 weeks ago. I record and have little need to view on screen unless..

Wireless or Hard Wired no difference... help.
Thanks

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the camera.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?

I presume the lens has been checked?
Was it working before any FW updates?

You may have adjusted the focus ring on the camera lens when cleaning on our around it.  Turn the ring around the lens to find the correct focus. It has a little pointer on it.

FurryNutz.. I am up to date on my FW updates.
RYAT3 you are correct. It is from cleaning and the lens spinning.
I still have some snow effect, not high saturation but snow. Can the lens be fully removed and reinstalled? It could really clean and or check the lens it self.

Thanks for the responses.

No idea, never tried..I suspect NOT.  I did disassemble a 5222L.. h/w A.. other than a circuit board and some wiring, not much else was accessible.

Thanks RYAT3

Yea, I'm going to leave well enough alone. These are built in such complex levels and I'm the fix it guy...lol I'm concerned that the lens removal will have the assembly drop inside the upper chamber. I'll live with the little snow and be happy that an expensive camera is still usable.

Thanks again for the answer.. I had discovered that approach in diagnosing wondering how and why. In cleaning these I'm a little surprised I found no other posst like mine. If it happens I hope this post helps others if needed down the road.

YEA!

RYAT3

Yea, I tired that and believe the lens is clean. I'm trying to figure out the snow too... It is a 'wireless' connection, but wired still shows snow. I'll report back if and when I figure it out.

Again Thanks
