I also have the issue described.  I have disconnected everything except for HDMI and still have the issue described.  I have to connect the component leads in order to reset the the output to HDMI.

I connected only the HDMI as indicated.  I will say it does auto-detect MOST of the time.  It's slightly improved, but I still find the settings to revert to defaults. 

I have to go back into the settings, and change from normal to widescreen. 

Also from time to time it still just looses signal, and I have to cycle through my TV inputs to "wake up" the 750...

I don't suppose there is any chance of a firmware forthcoming from D-link to address any of these "annoyances"?  It does seem like the manufacturing world has walked away from the MCX platform for the most part.

Make sure the HDMI is securely connected. If the unit boots up and does not auto detect the HDMI it will revert the setting to default trying to connect composite then once it connects HDMI again the next time the setting will have been reset so you will have to go and select widescreen again.
