Help, I can't find my files
« on: July 13, 2009, 07:09:21 AM »

Hi all,

Can anyone help me?

I have DNS323 coupled with Seagate 1 TB HDD for almost a year now. It has been running find.
But yesterday I cannot seem to upload a torrent file to the bittorrent. So what i normally did was just to restart the DNS323.
But to my horror!!! all the files inside suddenly lost. I still can see some of  the folder. But all the files in the folder is lost.
From the capacity I can see my files still there. It has taken 600GB out of 1TB. and the status says i still have some 370GB left.
So i believe my files still there. Now the only thing is that i cannot see it.

Anyone can help me on this??

Thank you

Have you tried resetting the unit to factory defaults?

I just run testdisk on the HDD itself.
It can find and read the data, but when i attach it to DNS323 i still cannot see them.

I am lost

Have you tried accessing your data from another PC? Do you get the same results?

So what happens if you access the device in the Windows RUN prompt and enter \\192.168.xx.xx (The IP address of the DNS-323)? What icons or folders are shown?

When i try to map it using suggested above,

the ones come out are only folder BT, movie, nas_prog

I suppose to have few more such as mp3, work, iso, download. But all these are missing.

From you stating that you see a folder called movies shows that you have a user setup for a folder called movies still. Please try resetting the unit to factory defaults again it seems like it has not taken effect.
