Parental Controls
« on: March 17, 2016, 06:20:00 AM »

Hello All,

I've been trying now for a few days to setup parental controls and I'm not having much success.  You would figure this would be a simple process.

So for my own sanity, when setting up a schedule, are the orange blocks you're clicking on the time you're allowing or the time you're blocking?

I've tried both and I'm not having any success with either.  Is there some trick with the router to force the rules or do a refresh?  Even after trying both, the targeted machine could still access the internet.

When I thought I had it working, I received conflicting reports that it was blocking at the wrong times or not blocking at all.

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance for your help.  Have a great day.

Hardware Version:  A1
Firmware Version: 1.08
Region:  Saint Louis, MO

ISP:  Charter
ISP Modem:  Arris TM1602
Router is plugged directly into the modem.  All connections are plugged into switches that plug into the router.

Try using the v1.09 beta and test the controls?

Well I'm just not sure if the orange blocks represent the time I'm allowing or blocking?  I looked at the manual and it does not even give the slightest hint as to what is the correct format.

Can you post a screen capture of what your configuring and I'll check with my 880L and see what we can figure out. They have the same UI.
Adding Screenshots In A Post
I think it's when you are coloring in the timeframes is when a device can have access, All other times is maybe blocked.
"Some features, such as the firewall and website filters, can be turned on or off based on a schedule. One common use of schedules is to control access to the Internet by a specified device during specified time periods."

Hi, was this ever solved?

I'm trying to figure out a way of disconnecting certain devices on demand ie bed time. I have created a schedule, enabled parental, controls for that device...but when the scheduled time comes...nothing happens.

I have also tried blocking the device, but internet connection continues.

Is there a way for me to manually disconnect a device?

Hardware version A1
Firmware 1.08
Region Ontario Canada
ISP Rogers
Modem Hitron CGN3 bridge mode

Link>Welcome!

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
  • Turn on DNS Relay under Networking.
  • Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives.
  • Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.

What device are you trying to schedule?

Also you might want to try the new version of FW...

When you go under Cients, and you sere the icon box for the iPad, click on the pencil and it will display additional settings. Move the Reserved IP slider button to enable a Reservation.

I would try upgrading FW to v1.09 now that it's been released and give this a try:

I'll give this a go this weekend with some devices I have as well. What is the time frame your wanting the device to not have access?

Thanks for the fast reply.  Trying to schedule an iPad. Really just want to disconnect it at bedtime. Even manually would work...but blocking it didn't. When I go to uodate, it tells me I am running the latest. 1.08. DNS Relay is on, but I could not see where to set up DHCP reserved IP. Devices are set to auto obtain ip.

Thank you,
