Unable to configure DCS-5030L with DNS-320L.
« on: March 26, 2016, 01:46:54 AM »

Hi,
Please confirm it to me whether DCS-5030L works with DNS-320L or not. Actually tested 2 devices DCS-960L and DCS-5030L and only DCS-960L is working with DNS-320L. Firmware on DNS-320L is 1.07 (latest as of Now).
Latest Camera firmware (1.00.36 on sg.mydlink.com).
DCS-5030L is working fine with IP address and mydlink website but only issue is DNS-320L is not able to play video stream from DCS-5030L.
We tried so many times but unable to detect camera. We tried adding camera manually and we get preview of camera but unable get video using DNS-320L.

You do know that the DNS-320L is not a video player don't you.  All the DNS-320L does is store the video from the camera, you have to have a player on your PC (example VLC) to actually play the videos or run the camera video to directly view the camera output.

You didn't understand my question.
I know how DNS-320L works. Don't reply with basics.
Let me repeat.
I've configured DCS-960L with DNS-320L but I'm not able to configure DCS-5030L with DNS-320L.
So let me elaborate, when I login to mysurveillance in DNS-320L setup page using IP address then search for camera and none of the cameras are detected and then I added manually both cameras (DCS-960L and DCS-5030L). So after that when I went to live video (as you know there are two main sections, live video and playback) there I can see only DCS-960L and DCS-5030L says connecting, and when I go to status I see there "camera disconnected" for DCS-5030L. So I can't store videos or play live stream of DCS-5030L on DNS-320L. And for DCS-960L both live streaming and playback work fine using mysurveillance.
I know there is compatibility issue and I'm using latest firmware on DNS-320L (1.07) and for DCS-5030L I can only see default firmware(1.00.36) on sg.mydlink.com.
I wanted to know if there is any update regarding DCS-5030L compatibility with DNS-320L.

[I'm not end user].

OK, sorry if I misunderstood what you were talking about, your expanded comment make it a little clearer.

When I get back to the office after the holiday I will lookup what information we have on surveillance cameras to see if any of it might be of use to you.

OK, I asked my service people if they had any thoughts on this and the diplomatic response was 'what exactly is he trying to do?'

The DCS-5030l appears to be the same as a couple of our professionally installed security cameras (there appears to be a couple of security camera manufacturers in China that will bland the units for others to sell) and reading the manual gives the same impression.

Our cameras are setup to download video to a couple of DNS-320 nas boxes (note not the L version) over FTP when triggered by the motion sensors.  The actual watching of the camera video output is via the camera built in webserver direct to a computer in the office.

With the correct setup you should be able to do the same, even over the internet BUT that does require care in making the correct settings, having fixed IP addresses for various units, strong passwords unless you want world + dog to see everything and correct firewall and port setting on the internet access router.

Sorry if I have again missed your problem.

Oh no!
You missed my question.
If you want me to explain you what mysurveillance does, sure I can, but please don't test my patience.
If you want me to explain what DNS-320L does, I can explain.
I've installed and configured several DNS-320L, DNS-327L, DNR-312L etc, and this DCS-5030L is quite new camera launched by D-Link so I'm not sure if it is compatible with any DNS or DNR device.

OK, pm me with just what you want to do and how you are doing it with other camera units, that way we will not clog up the forums.
