DWR-921
« on: April 11, 2016, 08:34:41 AM »

Dear all,
I've a DWR-621 and I'm trying to set up mail alerting via TOOLS -> EMAIL SETTINGS using the GMAIL smtp, I don't see SSL option available...
I'm trying both 465 and 587, with full email address as username so username@gmail.com, my password as password (tested many times, it's correct), smtp.gmail.com as smtp server and a gmail destination email, the result is always "An email is queued for sending..." but at the destination box nothing arrives.

I'm suspecting that the lack of force ssl as on many other vendors routers means it's trying to open a connection without it... someone of you was able to run it correctly?

my firmware is the latest available, I already tried with the previous one as well without luck.
Current Firmware Version :  V2.02
Current Firmware Date : 2015/06/22

Any ideas?

Even the DynDNS via no-ip.com seems to don't work and don't try to register or re-register an existing record?

Any ideas?

Just to add another layer I already did, I lowered the gmail settings to allow "unsafe" to send via the sender account I'm using.

Another unbelievable lack...
the sender email address field can contains just 27 characters... let's say I have a full email address that is longer? I cannot use the feature?

Luckily it's not my case at the moment with gmail but with another email from another provider that I would like to use as test it's the case and I cannot...

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

You may need to contact your regional D-Link support office and ask them about SSL/TLS options for this model router. Not sure if it supports these email features or not as this model router is not sold here in the USA region.
