Folder synchronization between volumes?
« on: April 11, 2016, 10:17:57 AM »

Hello D-Linkers!

Since I cannot find any similar topic, i will try to ask :) I'm looking for some solution that would allow to synchronize/backup selected folder between Volumes.
What I'm trying to get is similar to Local Backup but with option to remove some files/folders.

Let me show example
I have no RAID just 2 separate volumes
Volume_1 and Volume_2

I've created folder in Volume_2 called Photos with dates (folders) and pictures (files). Now I would like to have mirror of this folder on Volume_1 (this can be done with Local Backup)
But it doesnt seem to work when I delete some folder on Volume_2 - it doesnt remove this folder on Volume_1

So basically i would like to create synchronized / mirrored folder on volume_2 and get same thing on volume_1, with some kind of schedule once a week lets say.

Is it possible? Some script with cron? Maybe some additinal plugin from vtverdohleb ?

The only real way to mirror the drives is to use RAID 1.

You may be able to do something with rsync but that tends to be complicated to setup and unless you test it in both directions and get it to work when you add or delete folders/files you will be as you are at the moment.
