Telnet Help!!!!
« on: May 13, 2016, 09:33:07 PM »

I have a D-Link DIR-619L ver. B3 firmware ver. 2.04ES my service provider is huges net..
I simply want to enable/config Telnet in order to Access and potentially modify router settings via a .bat file ive created. Im running windows 10 and have already installed and enabled the telnet service. Through some research i found that port forwarding 23 to my specific device (Laptop IP) could solve the issue. No luck. while exploring through the gui i noticed a remote mngmnt option, i enabled it and set the port to 80 as 23 was not an option. When I tried to telnet again via port 80 I got a blank screen with a flashing cursor, I tried to enter the user name thinking this was only an issue rendering the prompt, but after striking a hand full of keys i received an error message and the session was terminated. I've since researched countless ways to overcome this issue, from simple configs (which my version doesn't support) all the way to restructuring the actual firmeware to utilize a backdoor. I have searched on the dlink official site for any firmware upgrades that may have fixed a glitch in the current version and cannot even locate my product.  I have an intermediate knowledge of network systems and over-all coding however Im no PHD in computer sceince. I jus need someone to walk me through what needs to be done to diagnose and fix this issue as its been plaguing me for a while.. I know there are other ways of going about my general purpose but this method would serve me best. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Link>Welcome!

FYI, most D-Link home class routers don't support any telnet operations due to security concerns and in most casts not used by home class consumers. D-Link saves this feature for some of there business class routers. If you need more information regarding this and your router needs, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
