VPN debugging / trouble viewing log
« on: July 15, 2009, 02:18:07 PM »

I'm trying to set up a VPN between a DIR-330 and a Linksys RV042.  My settings seem right (as far as I can tell), but it's not connecting.  This is fine, maybe I got something wrong... so I'm trying to look at the log on my DIR-330, and there's nothing there.  I have it set to only display debug information.  Sometimes after I reconfigure the VPN settings and reboot it will show maybe four entries - two about deleting the VPN connection, one about starting it, and another that says "Initiating main mode".  If I wait a few seconds and refresh the page, the log is empty.

Is there something happening that's clearing the log file?  Is there a way to prevent this?  Or does someone know of a better way that I can debug my VPN connectivity issues?

The log is going to be a red herring for you.  You are going to want to go over the settings on both sides with a fine toothed comb.
