DCS-960L unsuccessful setup
« on: June 26, 2016, 05:57:38 AM »

We have a Comcast WIFI router and it supports both 2.4 and 5 ghz bands so it supports pretty much everything.  We haven't had any issues connecting to it with any of the other many devices in the house.  Yesterday I tried for 8 hours to setup and configure this camera and I would get to the point where it would say it successfully reset the password in the camera.  Next step is clicking on Live View.  After about a minute it comes back with either Invalid Password (this happens most of the time) or Connection timeout.  Any ideas?  I've already created an RMA for it with Newegg but if I can get this stupid thing working today then I can cancel that.

Also, why isn't there a Windows setup wizard for this camera?  That isn't a "nice to have" feature, that is a MUST HAVE feature!

That is not always the case.

Anyways - did you try both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks?

Are you using any special characters in your password that might be causing issues?

Thanks for the reply.  I do have an ! in the password but I DID finally get it working this morning.  You just have to keep retrying about a 1000 times.  Now it's having trouble setting up the cloud account for mydlink.com.  "ErrorNetworkUnavailable".

So what do I do when I go to https://www.mydlink.com/content/notreg to setup an account and the first thing it says to do is download the Setup Wizard for your camera.  Well, the DCS-960L DOESN'T HAVE ONE!  Now what???  It's not working from the mydlink lite app on my windows phone OR my wife's IPhone.

Try to create the account from a PC @ mydlink.com to set up the account and then login to your phone?  ???

Unfortunately no, it's not working.  I'm on the "Create mydlink account" page in mydlink lite on my windows phone AND my wifes IPhone.  I fill in the information and click Sign Up and I get Sign Up Failed with the error message of  ErrorNetworkUnavailable.  I tried different local WIFI networks and I tried turning off WIFI and signing up using Sprint's cell phone network.  Same error is received.

:-[  I have no idea.   Might want to try to contact support.

When I created my account it was not through the app, as I was using an older wired camera with setup disk etc.

I am able to log into mydlink app today and see all my cameras.

You are using an Android 4.x+ and above? and the iphone 5 and above?  Recent phones?

My phone is a Windows 8.1 phone and my wife's phone is an IPhone 6.  This has been the MOST frustrating electronic device I've ever purchased and I'm returning it in the morning and buying something that WORKS!

My phone is a Windows 8.1 phone

It doesn't show support for the camera.

Windows app doesn't show support.

Data sheet for this model camera shows it supports Windows Phone even thought its not specific:
"mydlink Lite app for iOS, Android and Windows Phones
• Requires iOS 7 and above, Android 2.3 and above, or
any version Windows Phone
• mydlink Plus app for iOS and Android devices
• Requires iOS 7 and above or Android 2.1 and above:

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
