Shareport does not stay connected
« on: July 16, 2009, 04:52:53 PM »

I have updated my Dir-655 with the beta dir655_firmware_132b02NA_beta03_final because the old firmware of 1.32NA didn't work right with lots of connection problems to the internet.  Also, shareport didn't work right either.

Now, shareport is disconnecting every 10 seconds when it is connected.  I wish that support will fix this probelm because a lot of people are having the exact same problem with the updates of the firware and with the program of shareport.

Not to mention, I had to go into the properties of shareport to optional settings and configure to change the print settings and it hangs.

I wish I could go back to my old firmware if i knew that this would cause so many problems.

I ran into a similar issue.  I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit with SharePort 1.10 (this version of shareport has a completely different interface for windows vista 64 and it also includes an 64 Bit Setup file.

I also have Windows XP 32 bit and I installed Shareport 1.10 with the 32 Bit Installer.  On Windows XP 32 Bit, I had to select the options | Search for device servers | Check the box for enable Broadcast Addresses and enter the IP of my DIR 655 which by factory default is 192.168.0.1

Un-install any previous versions of Shareport and get the 1.10 version here:  ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Apps/dir655_pc_shareport_utility_110.zip

You can copy and paste that in your broswer or use an ftp client:  ftp.dlink.com and setup an anonymous connection.  Follow the path above to the installation files.

Regards,

Thanks for the advice.  I am using the new Shareport utility 1.10 with Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit.  It still connects and then disconnects.  I've installed and uninstalled it as well.  I did get it to print 4 pages. However, if it sits for a while, it will not print.  It will say communication with the printer is unavailable.  You have to reset the router for it to work again.  Still major problems with the Shareport utility.

I am going to have to use the wired connection to my printer until they fix all of these issues.

Thanks for your help.
Regards  :)
