Sunlight damage?
« on: August 16, 2016, 09:30:35 PM »

Has anyone left one of these (or similar) cams inside a window pointing outside? I am wondering if the sun will eventually crack the plastic. There is no direct sunlight the entire day but obviously it does get some during the day. Curious is anyone has left theirs exposed for a long time. Thanks in advance.

I highly doubt it.  Is your interior with AC?

Are you single or double pane glass?

spec show max of 104F:

Temperature
Operating: 0 to 40 °C (32 to 104 °F)

I would suspect that to be ambient type temp - ie nothing with a magnifying glass pointed on it causing it to melt or crack.

If you have experienced such a thing - post a pic...

I might think the case may color some in sunlight depending upon what it's comprised of. The case is white so I would think it would be less proan to any sunlight effects than black case maybe.

Might turn yellow over time if white.

What is the status of this?  Is it still working? Yellow tint?

Have not checked. If you think about it people install vinyl windows (vinyl frame) and those do not turn yellow. However, if PVC pipes exposed to the sun do turn yellow and can turn brittle but it takes many many years. I'm thinking the glass acts as a shield.
