FTP Server with non standard port
« on: July 17, 2009, 07:41:48 AM »

I currently have my 323 FTP server setup and running fine.  However, I would like to change the port to be something other than port 21.  I updated the config on my router to the new port, the log on screen pops up, but no files are shown after I enter in my credentials??
From my FTP client, I entered in ftp://FTPSit.com:2222
My router setup - Public port 2222 to 2222 Private port 2222 to 2222

Thanks

The client side router/firewall is most likely not allowing access - you probably need to configure the DNS-323 for passive ftp, which may or may not work depending on which version of the firmware you are using - if my memory is correct, passive ftp was not fully implemented in versions prior to the 1.08 beta, I have not personally tested it in the 1.08 beta so I can't say if it works there either.

RAID1 is for disk redundancy - NOT data backup - don't confuse the two.

Thanks for the reply.  I am runing 1.07, I don't want to run Beta code, since this is my only storage.  I will wait for the official next release of the firmware, then I will try again.

Building on what Fordem has said, I still wouldn't upgrade to 1.08 beta to do this.  There are enough issues with the FTP server admin page that cause strangeness -- e.g. labelled options not working as you would think.

The final release should be out *soon* - we'll see how it all works out in a week or two.
