Power feature request or faulty device?
« on: July 17, 2009, 08:00:58 PM »

I've browsed this forum now and am wondering if the DNS-321 has the ability to restore to its previous power state in the event of a main-line power flicker/outage. To elaborate, if the device was on prior to losing power, it should return on when power is restored...to satisfy an always-on power scheme. I do not see any device settings for such a feature, but wondering if this is (or should be) inherent to the default design. I'm somewhat amazed that I have not seen this mentioned anywhere else, that is unless my device is faulty.

This is an issue when trying to access the device remotely (either via ftp or vpn to home network) and power has been dropped and restored (after a storm has passed through the area or construction, etc). Even utilizing a UPS only provides power for a finite amount of time.

I am currently running firmware 1.01 (which thankfully resolved the issue of the ACL dropping after lost power).

Thanks in advance!

This feature has been added in 1.02 beta. So while not official, it is on the way :).
