Connecting to DNS-320LW from Smart TV
« on: November 06, 2016, 09:15:27 AM »

I recently took a cheapish Smart TV from Tesco back and have instead invested in a Bush LED40287FHDCNTDFVP 40" Smart TV. To my misery it appears to be running the same sort of terrible OS. The reason I took the first one back was that it could connect to my NAS, but would display all sorts of weird directories instead of what actually exists there, this is pretty obvious as there's only 4 folders!

This new TV is instead allowing me to connect to the NAS but will not show my folders whatsoever! Where I used to see "Volume_1" I now no longer see anything at all!

This is what I'm left with, no option but to go back ... I have literally just updated my firmware on the DNS-320Lw to check if this was the problem and it did't solve the issue.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? I can stream my media from my computer's shares but not from the NAS?!

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DNS? Look at the sticker behind or under the device.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DNSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
Is any or all Media services or features enabled on the main host router and the DNS? Something like Multi-cast streams, uPnP and DLNA?

  • H/W Ver: A2
  • F/W Ver: 1.08 - Updated to most recent before posting and didn't change anything
  • Region: South West, UK
  • Virgin HUB 3.0
  • uPnP is enabled on the router, I am unsure on Multicast or DLNA

I have had streaming work before on my previous TV, they both share the same operating system but this one isn't displaying any contents for some reason. I'm dead certain that I've not changed anything that would cause this.

If this has worked on prior TV units and this new is failing, I would presume there is either a configuration on the new TV that needs to be reviewed or something in the new TVs configuration or FW is not working correctly like the other TVs. I would contact the Mfr of the TV and ask for help and information regarding this.

That was partially the problem, when viewing my files it could only display up to 999 files, mine exceeding that so I decided to subcategorize them into four folder starting with #-F, G-M etc. This is when it started to mess up, almost as if there was a cache being held onto!

I will attempt to contact the manufacturer and see if they've got any hints. Thank you for your help!

Ahh...I've seen that file count limitation before. Let us know what you find out.
