Public IP not working Localy
« on: July 21, 2009, 06:47:24 AM »

I'm trying to connect to my server by HTTP or SSH from inside my network by using my External IP.
From inside my network it doesn't work but form outside it works.

If I ping on the local network to the public ip address i do get a response.

I've read both topics below but i didn't get it working

http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=1888.0

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Bob thats called a loopback. You'll need to disable SPI and change the NAT ENDPOINT FILTER to ENDPOINT INDEPENDENT.

The modem is just a cable modem without any routing stuff in it.

Its a Motorola SBV5121E.

192.168.100.1 login "admin"  password "motorola"

If your cable modem has DHCP running then you need to disable DHCP in the router. "Double NAT"

I disabled the DHCP in the modem is that a good option as well?
Because i cant get it on again on my modem i even reseted the thing to factory defaults but DHCP is still of.

But when the DHCP of the modem is off and the D-Link is on the loopback still doesn't work.

Is SPI disabled on the router? Maybe portfowarding is needed.

If you look @ your "Local Area Connection Properties" what all do you have installed?

Go into the browser interface of your cable modem, reset it to factory defaults, as the modem starts to reboot unplug your router and plug your computer directly into the cable modem. Enable DHCP on the cable modem.
If you can get it enabled plug the 655 back in and disable the DHCP on the router.
