Tried your suggestion on the "Smart Connect". I remember your people asking me to try that in the past and I was hesitant to try it again and now I know why. Once activated, the router is completely inaccessible due to the fact that the 2.4 Ghz network is unreachable and the 5 Ghz networks disappearing once it's on. I now have to factory reset the router to get it set up again from the start.
SMART CONNECT IS NOT THE PROBLEM. This router worked out of the box for a week or two (I believe I detailed this in the first message). After spending hours on the phone with D-Link, they determined that they would replace it. I shipped it away at my expense and in a couple weeks a replacement (not new) unit was returned to me. The unit then worked for a couple months then gave up again, same symptom.
This router obviously has a defect and that defect needs to be resolved. There are no other wireless devices or networks for miles around. There is no reason this router should not work just fine here. Please help to resolve this issue, otherwise D-Link will need to issue to me a refund for this router, regardless of any "policy" they may cite, this is a defective product from a design standpoint and it should never have been on the market.
