DAP-1522 Connectivity Issues
« on: July 21, 2009, 09:53:09 AM »

I have recently added a DAP-1522 to my DIR-655 in bridge mode. These are my issues, and I am wondering if anyone has any successful experience with this...

On my DIR-655 (A3, 1.20) (DAP is 1.20), I have DHCP set up with a pool from .10 to .100. There are several reserved IPs in the pool. I also have one PC used as a game server with a static IP outside of the DHCP pool with some ports forwarded to it. In that configuration, I had absolutely no issues.

I added the DAP to be able to connect a blu-ray player and to connect all of my G wifi devices, leaving only N on wifi. This did improve my wifi speed.

Here are the problems, and these occur no matter how I set up the DAP (dynamic IP, dynamic reserved, static):

1. I have a linksys WMB54g. I can access the web admin panel with no problem. However, the client does not find the device to connect to to stream audio.

2. THIS IS THE IMPORTANT ONE... No matter how I connect my Samsung BDP-1500, as soon as I turn it odd and the light goes to red, the network is flooded with IP conflict messages and all routing on my LAN is broken. It also does this as soon as the DAP connects wirelessly if the Samsung is connected.

3. I am pretty sure this is related to the Samsung issue, but I am not 100% sure, so I am listing this separately...In conjunction with the IP conflict messages and broken routing, I am getting messages in my DIR-655 logs that indicate a "LAND Attack" with messages blocked from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.1, which is my router address.

Any help/suggestions/etc. would be helpful. I am about an eyelash away from sending this thing back, and canceling the DWA-652 I had on order in hopes of boosting my laptop speed further. I am also wary of upgrading to firmware that is being reported as unstable in all different places on the web without the ability to go back.

Ass an addendum, this seems to only happen when the Samsung is in off/standby mode.

One more thing tested...When i started up the DAP with the Samsung turned on, it connected to the network and the DIR-655 assigned an IP. I was able to connect to the internet to check for an update and then disconnect the ethernet cable from the DAP with no issues.

I guess now I wait for comments, see if the same thing is going to happen to the Wii in standby mode, and see if anyone has any ideas. The solution may just be not to have the bridge powered up when items are not in use and make sure everything is powered on before starting the DAP up, if it does also happen with the Wii. If that's the case, I would hope it would be addressed in firmware updates if possible. If the Wii does fine, it means it's something with the Samsung.

Either way, not being able to just leave it plugged in and turn devices on and off when needed is pretty lousy for the cost of this unit.

Really? NOTHING? From ANYONE? Does D-Link have anyone with any sort of knowledge monitoring their own support forums?

Anyway, the Wii seems to work without any trouble with multiple power ups and power downs, router and DAP reboots, etc. The trouble seems to crop up at night, so I will have to see in the AM if my network is on the blink for the third day in a row with this product on my LAN.

Upgrade the router firmware to 1.32

After upgrade reset the unit to factory default and build the config from scratch. Use DHCP reservation for all the devices on your network.

What is the IP of you router and DAP?

router: 192.168.1.1
DAP: 192.168.1.2

What exactly is the issue? What specifically does 1.32 fix that will enable the Samsung Bluray player to be on the network in standby mode?

Sorry to disappoint you, wpc001, "being there, donne that!".
I had exactly same problem with the Samsung 1500. I did everything I could, but it was not even realy recognise by the network, it was another PC with the name of my computer.
Now everything is perfect for the last few month. The only thing I changed was replaced Samsung with a Sony!
and BTW, the DAP-1522 has a static adress of 192.168.0.50 when in bridge mode. I don't think you can change it. This DAP1522 can be bridge(what we want) or wireless Access Point to a WIRED network.

You can change the IP according to your network range in the WEB menu of the DAP.

wpc001,

sound like the saum, floods the network with link or ip requests, that the dir see's as potential attacks. what config changes can you make on the blu-ray.

I downloaded the manual for the sam-blu-ray it says the following>>>>>>>

Internet access to Samsung’s update server may not be allowed, depending on the router you use or the ISP’s policy.
For more information, contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
For DSL users, please use a router to make a network connection.

One soultion is connect it temperarlly directly to your cable modem or dsl router. let it connect and maybe it will connect to the update server and give you a indication on the connected tv that is it is updating.

It also appear on the sam web site a cd, USBwith firmware ver 2.4 usb

Interesting, I have exactly the same issue for several months now, use the Samsung BD2500, as soom as I bring the bridge up, it takes down my whole network (I have a thread on this same forum). and yes it conflicts with a PC on the wired part of the 655.

This is an error with the DHCP server, since it's gone through 3 versions of firmware and hasn't been fixed, hopefully a Samsung update may get it working.

Anyway let me know if you resolve the issue.
