ADSL 2+ Router GLB-802C

Hi, My question is regarding ppp interfaces . When I see the system alarm  of my router it says "Mon Apr 10 11:03:05 2017 : WARNING : PPPoE Down : Interface - ppp-0". However  I am still connected to the internet. I am only disconnected when I notice interface ppp-1 down in the system alarm. Below is the system alarm of my device.

  • What Hardware version is your modem? Look at the sticker under modem.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the modems web page under status.
  • What region are you located?


I presume there maybe more than one port or interface and your using Interface 1 and the modem is status for both, even though your using only one of the interfaces. Are yhere two phone ports in back of this modem?

Thanks for the prompt reply,

I looked under the modem ,
Hardware version : A1
Software version : 2.5.060823e1

I am located in India and on BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) network the State owned ISP. My modem has PPPoE settings for few major ISPs of my country of which BSNL is one. It has VPI=0 nd VCI=35.

Below are the VPI and VCI values of the major ISP's of  my country.

BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) serves whole India except the capital region (State of Delhi) : VPI=0, VCI=35
MTNL (Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited) serves the capital region (State of Delhi): VPI=0, VCI=32
VSNL (Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited) now acquired by Tata Communications: VPI=0, VCI=33
Airtel : VPI=1, VCI=32

I am a subscriber of BSNL but then why my System Alarm shows

Also my ADSL 2+ router has a single  LAN port (RJ45) and telephone port (RJ11) and also a USB port. However my machine is connected to the LAN port.

Well if the modem is working normally. I would not worry about it. Is the modem working normally for you?

My ISP playing tricks with me for the past 2 months. Link /ADSL getting dropped every now and then. I want to save the System Alarm and show it  to their officials. So I need to understand them correctly. Please help.

I would keep a running log or copy and paste the log information and send it to them.

If there is any logging features on this modem, try enabling them.

I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. For DSL or Fiber service lines, ensure that the ISP is using good working phone or cable lines to the DSL modem and that the phone lines are filtered correctly. I recommend having the ISP service physically check the lines going from the out side to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.
