Stumbled into a driver/software/configuration combination that’s made this adapter usable. Like many, had constant disconnect, sometimes with spontaneous reconnect few seconds later, while at other times manual reconnect would be required. Now connects in 802.11ac mode and functions as USB 3.0 device with no disconnects.

Did this on Windows 10 64-bit notebook (Lenovo Yoga 13):
-   Installed D-Link connection manager utility, which likewise installs a driver.
-   Disabled driver signature enforcement in order to install driver with USB 3.0 fix as made known in this forum by BLKMRKT.
-   Over to device manager and advanced settings for adapter. Updated driver by choosing search for driver online. What had been identified as D-Link driver gets replaced with Realtek driver.

Despite update, USB 3.0 option under USB Switch Mode will remain. Along with selecting USB 3.0, I’ve also changed connection type to 802.11ac only and set preferred band to 5GHz first. Haven’t futzed with anything else, especially BEAM which remains disabled. Don’t want to press.

The DWA-182 seems a rather idiosyncratic piece of technology, so this may do nothing for other boxes. But if you’ve given up and haven’t yet heaved the thing out a window, give it a try.

Sorry, should have given more info. And given correct info no less -- working driver is of course not Ralink but rather Realtek. Device isn't that idiosyncratic.

Otherwise...

Device manager driver tab shows:
Driver Provider: Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
Driver Date: 1.4.16

Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows

'What Mfr and model # router do you have?'
Asus DSL AC-68U

To be clear, configuration works only when steps listed earlier are done in same order as related. After more testing can add as well that D-Link utility must remain running. If process killed then disconnects return.

It's fiddly, but the config makes dongle usable at least.

While I appreciate this sticky to help with DWA-182 connection issues, the advice appears to already be out of date:

• The D-Link Connection Manager software is no longer available for download, at least not from D-Link's support page: http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DWA-182
• I am unable to find ANY information on this "BLKMRKT" USB 3.0 fix, even after searching within this forum as well as on Google.  All I could find was a site for Black Market bicycles

What I did instead was search for the most up-to-date RealTek Windows drivers that were based on this chipset (the RTL8812AU) and found the following link: http://www.realtek.com.tw/DOWNLOADS/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=64&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
The latest driver at this time is from June 2017, so it's still fairly recent.

I've only had the new driver up and running for a couple of hours, but it already appears much more stable than D-Link's own drivers.  It also appears to work at full speed unlike the built-in Realtek driver that was provided within Windows 10.

What installer package are you referring to?  I don't see an installer package on the support page.  Are you referring to the original CD-Rom?

So it's been a couple of days and so far the latest Realtek drivers are working pretty well.  They're still not perfect but they're a lot more stable than the various drivers I've tried previously.  Things like my Plex server's remote access feature always stays connected to the internet now.  My RDP connection to my home PC from work is a lot more stable as well.  Hope this has helped others.

The connection software is included in the driver package. You can disable it and just use Windows to connect.
