H/W Version A1 or A2?
« on: July 28, 2009, 07:07:17 AM »

Hi All,

The box my router came in says H/W Version A1 on the sticker with the serial number.   However, when I go to the LED Panel under Device status it says A2.   Does this mean I'm H/W Version A2?  I'm assuming it does.

If that is the case, I am at F/W version 1.15.   Is there any reason for me to upgrade?   I just set the router up last night and other than some connection issues with my ISP last night, it seems to be running great today.

Look at the sticker on the router itself and see what hw version it says.  If the box says a1 then its an a1 and you should not flash it to anything higher than 1.16b which was the last working fw before the 1.2x fiasco.

I cannot seem to find 1.16, however I have found 1.15 at:
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dgl4500/

Where is the download for 1.16? Thanks!

Dang, sticker on bottom of router says A1.   So I take it that it's a bug that the LED panel says A2?

I have the same thing going on, A2 in the LCD status menu, but A1 on the Box as well bottom of the Router. It's on firmware 1.15 (it came installed with) but it's been dropping my connection for the last two weeks now (I had it around the start of July).
The LCD sometimes stays on forever until I powercycle it, and while the LCD stays on, it'll lose connection and I'll scroll through the menus and it'll still say "ONLINE" on the upper left.

It's really annoying.

The Trendnet TEW-652BRP router (N with 10/100 ports) I got for 25 dollars is more reliable than this! >:(

Can you guys get me pictures of this?

Of which?
A2 on LCD with A1 on Product sticker on the router and on the box?

Or the LCD sometimes stays on forever until I powercycle (when it loses connection)? Though I have not able to stay online more than a day now since the last post I made (so I can't really see if it stays on).

Just opened a RMA ticket with Newegg in returning this (or seeing if they can send me a A2 model that works before the 1.20 issues), I can't stand it restarting every day (at longest), I'm going to stick back to my temp router TEW-652BRP if I return it until I can find another router with the features of the DGL-4500 without the troubles of the DGL-4500.

I am also getting an LED "A2" display with the version "A1" on the bottom sticker.   (P/N BGL4500ANA...A1)

I've tried to upload 2 pictures as attachments, but get an error message saying that the directory is not available.  Is there some other way to put the pictures in-line?

I was able to get them to send a replacement A2 router. Does anyone know what firmware version it comes with? And what is the best firmware to upgrade to, not going with 1.2+? In terms of stability as well as performance? I connect a ps3, 2 laptops and 2 blackberries that use voip so wireless stability and disconnections are not going to work for me. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.
