Remote login/administration of DNS-343
« on: August 03, 2009, 07:43:34 PM »

Is there any way to log into the DNS-343 from another location remotely?  ie across the internet?
I have DYNDNS enabled, is there a port you need to forward ie 80?

Well any port will work as long as your router supports virtual port mapping. Like mapping port 8000 to port 80 on the DNS 323. All of our routers support it.

Ok Thanks.
My router doesn`t allow mapping of 1 port to a different destination port unfortunately.  You cannot change the port on the NAS for web interface?

Well your only option then is port 80 =\. hopefully your isp does not block that port.

An alternative for you is to use tunnelling, using putty on Windows for instance with tunnelling -- you can choose your own local port to use.
