I recently upgraded the wireless adapter to 101n from 101g (WUA-1340).
I'm using a DIR-615 as my router. (mixed n and g)

Before you ask, I have: -updated the drivers.
-toggled all security options on the 615
-tried different locations
-put a cooling fan beside it
-made sure the winsock was clear (cleaned for malware, and spyware)
-tried setting the ip addess for automatic assignment, and static assignment

but when I use my -N adapter, it constantly seems to "loose" the connection with the router. (even though the wireless signal is strong, and packets "seem" to be going back and forth. This is then displayed through no internet, and no access to the network. (I have a NAS DNS-321...Ya I was loyal to Dlink.... but this may sour me on future purchases...*sigh*)

I repair the connection and it works fine.....for a few minutes, and then looses the connection

Strangely, my -G (WUA-1340) doesn't have the same problems. (but with half the speed...*sigh*)

The store I bought it from won't take it back as it works when they test it. (quote:"bars are strong, so it must be a setting")

I have the same issue. I thought it might be a heating issue, but I doubted it. Your post seem to support my doubts. It cuts off on average every 5-10 min, whether I'm downloading anything or not. Although, it appears that it's more likely to cut off with high download speeds. These are just generalizations. Whether the signal cuts or not is quite random.

My brother suggested interference (wireless phones) is the issue, but one of my brothers adapter functions far better then mine and it is across the hall (6m), and about the same distance from the router.

While I was writing this it cut out and connected again...

I find that the fastest way to reconnect is to remove it from its holder for a second and then put it back in (faster then refreshing).

In summation, I have no idea what the issue is, but I would sure like to find out.

Every single description matched exactly what's going on with mine. I guess this is more common than I thought.

I have the same problem using the DWA-130 w/ DIR-825. On WinXP SP3 and Windows Wireless Config. but it does the same w/ the Dlink program. I have the latest drivers and firmware too. Was fine then suddenly started lossing connection even though wireless signal is excellent? It does do 300Mbps though when connected. I have ordered a DWA-160 which is more inline w/ the DIR-825 since they're both xtreme N products. Will post back w/ results after switching to DWA-160 from the 130.

Well,  I am having the same issue with my setup... DIR-655 Router and an office with 10, DWA-130s.
They are all running Win XP.

I tried different settings.. 20 and 20/40 Channel width... I tried WAP2 Only with AES encryption.. (suggested by DLINK support).  I tried 802N only.

The dropped connection is random among the 10 machines.. some do it others don't.. then it will change which computers will do it.. some will disc-connect every 20 seconds.. others its every half hour or so.

Since they weren't going down all the same time, I kind of ruled out the router.  (Mostly)

The final thing I did to get the office stable was to go to 802G ONLY... no N speeds.

They are all now stable... but I have a problem buying N equipment and only being able to run G speed.

No resolution from Dlink yet... still waiting.

I switched the router to Wireless G only and the problem has persisted for me. I don't suppose there were any other changes?

I hope it's not too late to warn you... DWA-160 has serious problems. If you are willing to take that risk, make sure to get the 'B' hardware version, not 'A1'!  A1 is a complete failure for most people. I just returned mine, I couldn't stream video at all, extreme jitters and connection drops. I am in search of an N adapter that will work well with my DIR-625 "old" draft n router at the moment

>:(  I don't usually do this, but D-Link used to be a great company. I bought this DWA-130 adapter at the end of October and had problems with it from the start, but was on a 802.11g network so didn't mind refreshing the software every now and then. Dropping connection like the others, I'm on a mac so I have to use the Rev C version of the drivers. But I just got an N network - every other adapter on the network works fine except for this D-Link.  I was with customer support for over 3 hours! Unbelievable how unknowledgeable these guys are about their own products.  I have had d-link in my networks and recommend to customers all the time - until now that is.  RMA ALR400710094 - product is worthless!

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled?  I had the same issue after trying to modify some of my settings...I had to uninstall, reboot and reinstall to get it to come back to life.

I've bought this product twice. OMG. both of them fail... don't ever buy this product.... they're ripping us off. I bought it thinking it was cheap. and then first it keeps on dcing later I get blue screen. second time I bought it I was convinced by the guy in store saying it'll work fine. and then yes, I knew it I shouldn't have trusted him. the next thing you know is the same problem occurs and it gets worse day by day. it's pissing me off. why the hell would they sell this crap in the market man. it's ridiculous... and yea A1, version C or whatever, both don't work... good thing I still have my guarantee paper with me, if it's still gonna have this issue, which I think it will, I'm gonna stay away from Dlink product.  >:( >:( >:(

Its called "collision" It makes no difference how strong the signal appears to be, because the signal indicator IS NOT showing signal strength. Its showing an occasional strength whever it gets a chance to poll for it.

Collision = too many wireless signals at once, or multiple reflections of the same signal. Microwave signals (such as WiFi_) are EXTREMELY bad for that.

I was able to mitigate this problem using a Belkin card and a very directional antenna.

The Dlink 130 card picks up signals from every direction.

Having a supposed "strong signal" is NOT THE SAME as having a RELIABLE connection for data transfer, and the router may not wait around for the signal to clear. It might have other things to do.

Get a download of Net Stumbler and get educated! I can pick up 12-15 signals right now on my DLink 130 B1. I cant connect to any of them, they are all jumbled together. Net Stumbler will show how many signals, especially how many on the same channel, and if there are more than one on the same channel, unless they are 50-90 dB apart in signal strength, theres gonna be no wireless communications...
