Hello,

What is really nice is to have as less material  as possible.

My printer is not used a lot (and draws less than 1 Watt in sleep mode) so it is always on and prints when needed.
Of course, I could buy a peripherical to put my printer on the network (draws power too).
Perhaps I could buy a network printer (even more expensive, and draws a lot of power, but my old printer is still working).
Perhaps I put the printer on one computer and start it when I want to print (go in the other room, switch on...)
I could also buy a PC and let it run 24/7 (a lot of power), but in this case, I can replace the router and the computer will be the router  :)

Or, have a router that has a USB port.
Personally, it is the way I prefer. It is the least expensive (a router doesn't draw a lot of power and must always be on for the network to work.)
And this feature was running perfectly before (1.2x firmware series).
The only problem is that this feature is broken since the 1.3x series (and there is no mention of it on the web site), and no downgrade path. (so once you did the mistake to upgrade to 1.3x, you are in trouble).

Is there a question hidden somewhere or do you want to blow off some steam?  ;)

I run 1.32NA and Shareport runs fine. You could reset to factory defaults, reflash the fimware and manually configure the router (do not restore config file).

Hello,

No, In fact, he says (and a lot of other people in other forum...) say that we should buy a real print server and so on.
I simply put a list with the things I have already seen, and why I don't use it. (in other words, I try to explain why I really like shareport on the router).   ;D
But honestly, I find hard to believe that the firmware series 1.3x is still on the website with no mention that it can break shareport.  ???

For the restore to factory / reflash / Restore (they say to restore after a flash) and a manual configuration, it didn't change anything.

It does not break Shareport by default. Apparently some people have issues getting Shareport to work, which is not funny ofcourse. They don't advertise cars with a text that says: "may break down sometimes", "may get you a flat tyre in the middle of the night" or "will cost you a lot of money when it needs to be serviced" ?  ;D

How about a blown VTi Transmission in a Saturn 2003 or 2004 Vue ?

Try $6,000 to fix....

ok, so I'm off topic a little...

@Eddiez
I have seen some game manifacturers remove some patch because the game was broken with some users with the patch (but it was working with others). They didn't say that there was a problem with some users, they removed the patch for every one, And for a game, there is less problem than for a router (that can't be downgraded). You remove the game and install it again and you don't apply patch that has a problem.

For the cars, I don't know, but for the microwave oven, they put a mention about the cat...  ;D

That's why they warn you not to insert cats, but don't mention dogs in the manual  ;)
