Have been lurking and watching the 1.32 discussion for a while, but decided to pipe up and ask a question.

I have a setup here that is a little funky. I have a Actiontec DSL modem (192.168.0.1) that authenticates via PPPoA connected to the DIR-655 (192.168.0.2 drawn from the modem).

I am not able to turn the bridging function of the actiontech on because of the phone company using PPPoA for authentication, so it is functioning as my router. I turned off the routing functions of the DIR-655 (I know the stuff about using the DIR-655 as a router.......) and have connected the modem/router into a LAN port to get a good connection.

All of this has given me a connection to the internet only on the computers that are plugged in via LAN. Wireless connections are completed, but those connected via wireless cannot access the internet or even the modem/router or the DIR-655. It does however seem to get a proper IP that is within the LAN and drawn from the modem/router.

Could this be because I have had to connect the dsl modem into the LAN port instead of the WAN port?

Any ideas how I can solve this whole mess?

The people doing this hope to eventually have a DIR-655 with two wireless access points put into it to extend the wireless over more of their property.

How do you have it connected? Have you verified if the MAC filter is on or off? I have an Actiontec MI424WR for Verizon FIOS which utilize a coax. Is your Actiontec router a wireless router too? If so, this could be the problem. You would need to disable or turn off the wireless mode in the Actiontec router. Use one of the LAN ports in the Actiontec and connect it to WAN port in DIR-655. Configure the LAN IP of the DIR-655 if needed. Choose the SSID of your choice, set the wireless security, WEP, WPA, WPA-2, etc.

Yes then dir-655 act as a switch.

Modem to WAN port and dir-655 as pppoe username/password.
set your dir -655 to 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
