I took out my DNS-320 (H/W A1) after several years and trying to revive it. It is running firmware version 2.00 (Firmware Date 12/17/2010) and I had fun_plug installed. I noticed that the latest version of the firmware listed on the download site is 2.05b08 and there is also a b10 security patch here:
http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DNS-320When I downloaded the 2.05b08 firmware, the name of the file was "DNS-320_A2_FIRMWARE_2.05B08.ZIP" which implies that it is meant for H/W revision A2, but there is no separate download for H/W revision A1 so I am wondering if this would be the right firmware or there is a different one I am missing. The download site seem to indicate that the firmware is common for all revisions, but I want to be sure before proceeding.
Also, since I had fun_plug installed, I googled to see if I should do anything special as part of the upgrade, and I found this post:
https://nas-tweaks.net/109/firmwareupgrade-procedure-for-nas-devices-with-fun_plug/It is advising to disable fun_plug first and re-enable telnet before proceeding with the upgrade. Though the advise is for a different firmware, I am wondering if I should follow it here as well. Will having fun_plug enabled during the upgrade cause any problems?
I found this thread about firmware update, but it doesn't talk about the hardware revisions or fun_plug:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41866.0I did find the tip about backing up firmware settings useful. I also noticed that the ZIP file needs to be uncompressed and found the release notes that mentioned both A1/A2, so I am assuming that I can ignore the filename being specific to A2, but would like to be safe than sorry by checking here first. Also fun_plug is another thing that I am not sure how to handle during the upgrade.
