Hi all!

I'm wondering if the DIR-645 supports any kind of address reservation when using IPv6 and DHCPv6? I.e. like plain old DHCPv4 (but using DUID instead of MAC address or similar). It seems the router doesn't even try to assign the same address to a device twice, more like a first come, first served kind of game. Which may be fine for basic DHCPv6, but when combined with semi-static DNS it just doesn't work...  In the web GUI, I haven't been able to find any equivalent of the DHCPv4 reservation list with host name and MAC...

Would be delighted with any kind of answer, really :-)

Are you referring to the WAN connection with a ISP service or the LAN side connected client devices. Lan side devices there isn't any IPv6 reservation UI for that protocol. I presume that IPv4 reservations could be used and IPv6 would I presume maybe be assigned in that manor to the first come first served however I'm not sure if the IPv6 address would persist after a disconnect or least time has expired.

The 645 was an early model router with very basic IPv6 support and not very advanced for the time in that protocol. D-link usually automates various features of networking that most home class users don't usually want to fiddle with.

I'm running on rev. A hardware, firmware "1.06 Thu 06 Aug 2015" (don't remember exactly which version this was; may have been a beta), and I'm in Europe (Sweden).

Anyway, I'm referring to the LAN side of things. And thanks for confirming it, that's more or less what I was expecting. Oh, and one other thing: I had to disable duplicate address detection (DAD) on my Macs, because apparently some of the DAD packets were being rebroadcast by one of my devices (I have an unholy combo of DIR-645 serving 2.4 GHz for older devices and an AirPort Express serving the 5 GHz band) causing them to think every address was taken...  Don't know which one though.

So, what you're writing is pretty much what I suspected already; but it's good to know I didn't miss anything vital.
