Hi there.

I have a dlink dir 822, hardware c1, with the 3.02b05 firmware (latest).

WPS is vulnerable and this is not cool at all. What is the problem to improve the GUI like on the old models that had a great advanced GUI.  :'(

It's easy to crack the WPS :o >:( , and I can not find a way to disable it.  ???

How can DLink help me?

Thanks!

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

WPS is only active if you use it. WPS vulnerability was fixed a long while ago from what I was told.

Lets keep my region aside for a while.  ;)

This is a major problem. :o

It seems that WPS is not just activated when the button is pressed.

Any further ideas?

So do you need WPS activated then?
How are you determining is not working?

We are having some miss communication  ???

I need WPS Deactivated, and there is just No Way to do it. (Good GUI, with poor and few options)

It's working by default, easy to check with many tools

It's a common android app, on play store, but with root privileges, it hacked the WPS and returned my WiFi key within couple minutes or less. 3 meters far, plus a door on the way.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. The US offers Chat support for consumer products at support.dlink.com. 24/7. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

I need help too on this model, i can't disable wps   :-\ there is no place where i can un-tick or uncheck the wps like other dlink routers/modems.
Now i can't use it in fear of this app that can hack the password easily getting tired of changing the password everyday. Dir822 doesn't have the web interface like others the orange colored ones this one is blue/white type with less options.

Edit: Iam in Mideast and also i recommended a friend to buy it his one shows red which means unhackable in the WPS WPA TESTER whatever the name but mine shows green which can be hacked.

The support here is not the same as in US or Europe they don't care that much. What i did is changed from wpa to wep now its unhackable through mobile phone at least.

Each region handles there own support and development.

That would be ok, however WEP also has it's own vulnerabilities and is not used much anymore.  ::)

True i will call them tomorrow won't leave it.
One thing i don't understand is the one my friend bought on my recommendation i set it up is wpa and unhackable, mine however shows wps/wpa and can be hacked  :o
As for wep here almost every guy has samsung and that app loaded so for now i will be safe from them at least. Will keep on checking status and block if someone hacks using a Pc.

Edit: Someone told me it comes wps disabled return the router it must be faulty.

He have same model router?

D-Link here is looking into it. From what I know, as long as WPS isn't used, and users use the SSID name and PW to connect. You should be safe.
