Hi All
As im sure many people have this issue: false motion detection messages. I feel like a good way to fix this is to find out what the camera "thought" was the motion

If it shows me something that moved that was not supposed to move, i could fix that. If it showed me something else, such as a change in light or something, i could adjust the sensitivity

However i do need the camera to "tell" me, what it thought was the motion it is reporting for.

How can i do that?

Are you reviewing the video? Depending on the camera and sensitivity level, a subtle shadow can trigger the motion detection. This can be common with low to middle-end indoor cameras when pointing out a window or used outdoors.

I do not know of any camera that really tells you what triggered it. It would be nice

Look at your motion detection areas that you marked and when watching a video triggered by motion, kind of remember where those areas are and see if anything moves or any kind of pixel change occurs. That is really the only way.

• What Model and Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the device.
• Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DNSs web page under status.
• What region are you located?

What is the value of detection you have set on the camera?
What kind of environment is the camera installed in and what is the camera viewing?

Most's cameras are not smart enough to tell what motion is being detected or what triggers it. Only that something has triggered a motion or movement.
