After hearing about the crazy amount of problems many of you DGL-4500 owners are experiencing, I'd definitely take the refund.
I paid $187.00 for my A1 about a year ago and only experienced my real first problem this past week where I upgraded the firmware from v.1.15 to v.2.21NA and my DGL-4500 is CONSTANTLY losing complete connection with my desktop PC, my laptop, a home media server, and even the cable modem itself.
It's like the router decides to get itself into a perpetual reboot cycle without me ever commanding it to reboot. The only way I can get the thing working again is to disable the network adapters in each PC, unplug the router AND cable modem, and one at a time turn them back on.
.... the trouble is that 20 minutes later the router will do the same thing again.
I've tried downgrading my firmware to v.2.0 but that didn't help, but only made it worse. After an hour on the phone with D-Link yesterday, they weren't able to solve the problem and didn't offer me anything except an "RMA" in which i'll probably get a refurbished router that came from another person just like me.
Unless D-Link steps up to the plate and upholds their half of the bargain that was made when I forked over my hard earned money for a product that was supposed to work as advertised... i'll not only file a complaint with the BBB but the Chamber of Commerce. And make sure this will be my FIRST and ONLY D-Link router.
.... back to Cisco backed Linksys. They were always good to me.
