Since I've updated my firmware, I'm have a serious issue with transfering files and streaming videos from one computer with a wireless N connection to a computer with a wired connection.  The problem is with the wireless connection bandwidth when I upload from the wireless computer.  With no activity, the wireless connection speed stays at 300 Mbs.  As soon I start to stream a video or transfer a file from this computer to another computer on the network, the bandwidth starts to get slower and slower until the speed is at 13.5 Mbs!!!  Basically it gets to the point of not being able to stream a video.  This never happened before the firmware upgrade.  I can't seem to fix this and really need help.  Thanks.

Okay you have problems, the Devil is in the details. How do you have your network configured?
The Dir 655 can work @ default settings for some but most people coming to the forum have issues because it not configured right or they don't know how to configure it.
Now I'm not saying the Dir 655 is perfect, if read some of the problems with the firmware you always have to wonder if it's broken.

I've found that QOS is really flakey and can cause the router to just hang out of no reason.   It also resets the HTML config page as it keeps checking the bandwidth in unreasonable intervals that cannot be changed.

I turned it off and all seems well.

Turning QOS will work for your video packets but if you are also running VoIP or SIP, prioritization is key to Real Time networking performance.

Double check your port config as it sounds like there is a collision of some type occuring that is stopping the delivery of certain packets.  {Thus the slowdown (clogged arteries).}  If you are not running VoIP and only video streaming, the buffer on the player will take care of the QOS and you don't need it.

Maybe some of your video packets are being wrongly stamped and with the new release...the RTR is literally confused as to which packets should be.

Thanks for the responses.  Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but I thought I would get an email or something if someone replied to my post.  I'm kind of new at this.  Anyway...

I've tried turning off the QOS, and had no change in this issue.  The slowdown happens whether it's a video or file transfer.  DLink phone support told me to lower my MTU setting at intervals of 8, but I really don't think that is going to help.  I did try it for about 10 intervals (with resets each time) and nothing got better.

Could security settings be problem?
