Picked up a refurb 2630L from FleaBay the other day. I was using old cell phones as webcams because they could FTP the files to my server. But of course they were not reliable and kept locking up every few days. So I went looking for a "real" camera that could FTP. Amazed at just how few there are...
So setup of the 2630 is a total PITA. I have 3 wifi APs and it would not manually connect to any of them. Had to use WPS and then it would attach...weird. I then get into it and setup a static IP and start playing with the settings. It was at this point I learn the Live Video and motion area setup were useless cause I can't get any video to come through. Of course I am on Win 10, tried Chrome, IE, Firefox, etc... Will D-Link ever update this thing to work on a modern platform??? Lucky for me my work laptop is still on Win 7 and it's old Firefox is able to make it work.
So I got FTP working, but it only sends 10 seconds of video at a time. Is there any way to let it wait till the entire motion event is over and then just send the 1 larger file??? I did put a SD card into it and have it recording as well.
NTP based date/time would not work until I added some DNS IPs. Just threw in Google and Verizon addresses.
No special characters allowed in the admin password when setting up with the APP, but you can change it in the web browser? Really?

Come on D-Link...
Took forever to get the Android APP to work. D-Link registration kept giving me an error for hours then it suddenly went through. At least I can set the motion area through there if needed and the remove viewing seems to work. In fact, the registration went through right after I added the DNS IPs, not sure if it's related?
I guess for $60 it's hard to complain, but not sure a non IT person would ever get it working. I might get another one and try to weather proof it for outside use.
