OK. I have two problems here (not including the problem of how bad the d-view software is...do yourself a favor and checkout Linksys cam software...*THIS* is how a cam software *SHOULD* be!)
Anyway.
Issue 1) I am running d-view 2.02. I have in my stable of cameras, two DCS-900W cameras, a DCS-900 camera, a DCS-920 camera and a DCS-5300 camera. All cameras are viewable in the D-View software *EXCEPT* for the DCS-5300...And here is the weird part...If I go into the settings for the DCS-5300, click on the "Motion Detection" tab, I can see the camera image for the DCS-5300...it's there, and it's live! But if I go back to the main viewing screen, I get no image...just the word "Connecting". So, we *KNOW* that the D-View software sees the camera and it can process the images from the camera, it just refuses to show the images from the camera on the main screen.
Issue 2) When I first set up the D-View software, I went into the settings for one of the DCS-900W cameras. I went to the motion detection tab and clicked on the image to set up the motion detection for that camera. I then proceeded to do the same with my two DCS-900w cameras and the DCS-920 camera. Later, I needed to make some changes and move some of the cameras around...So I deleted some of the cameras from D-View. I left one camera there and re-setup the other 3 cameras. Now, when I go to the motion detection screen for *ANY* of the cameras, I cannot click to get a red "X". And the funny part is that the one camera that I *DIDN'T* delete, the red "X"s are still there in the pattern that I set up...*BUT* I cannot add any more red "X"s nor can I remove any of the existing "X"s.
Sub-issue 3) Just a side note...Why is D-View such a hog? Why does it steal almost 30% of my dual core 2gHz cpu running Windows XP? Why does it suck up so much memory? And why, *WHY* oh why does it have to take up my entire screen! I don't even get to see my task bar! Why? Why does it do this? If I have to go to another application that is running on the machine, I have to minimize the cam software to the task bar just to *SEE* the taskbar! This kind of software screen hogging is so 1990's and it makes the software look dated! If I hadn't already invested money in a half a dozen D-Link cameras, I would switch to Linksys just for this reason...although, there are many other reasons to switch anyway!
