To be in spec the front USB 3.0 port should provide 5V / 900mA power ( the USB port on the back is USB 2.0 so only 500 mA @ 5V ) to compatible USB 3.0 devices , so if yous SSD is under 4.5 W of power consumption on it's spec sheet it should work ; anything above that and it's a dice roll if it will work or not.
My unit worked with a spinning rust 300 GB HDD which as far as I remember had a max power draw of 7.5 W (although there were random glitches/discconects from time to time during long sustained writing sessions).
