My DIR-655 died when I tied to change a setting and save it. Will not start up just a blinking blue light. Tried the reset and even held it before powering. The lights never change.

I have a DIR-882 that works as it should.

The DIR-1360 seems to lose the connection with ease and then gets stuck in connected, no internet. Would the DIR-1960 or greater do better?

I upgraded the firmware to 1.03.

I tried resetting it as it’s had a firmware update but it is still very squirrely.

Even the LAN connection to the PC had the internet drop out.
I looked at the internet settings and it said it was disconnected. I clicked the renew IP address and it all came back for the PC but kicked the phone off.

The phone takes like over a minute to connect now and its even slow to show the saved WiFi network.

Sounds like the 1360 maybe faulty and needs to be replaced.

I'm in the US. I got it off Amazon yesterday.

What about signal strength is it unusual that it has less coverage than the 600 or 800 series? If I send it back is there a better one in the mesh router line I should look at?

Use the following browsers only: Internet Explorer or Fire Fox. Apple Product users, please use Safari or FF. Chrome and other browsers may cause the FW download to become corrupt or may improperly handle the data causing the router to be come bricked.

Wow! No chrome support, should I reinstall the firmware?

Yes. I never use Chrome for any FW updates ever. Can't be trusted.

Try one of the COVR 3902, 1302 or 2202 systems.

I had looked at those but thought they were older models. Is there anything other than that the 3902 comes with a mesh extender?  Thanks for the help.

The 1302 and 2202 are only about a year old. The 3902 is the oldest, it's about 2-3 now.  It's matured and works well.

I like the 1302 system, however doesn't work well with 1st gen NEST controllers. Other than this, it's pretty good. The 2202 is ok however I've found a couple of bugs in recent FW. Hoping D-Link will correct them and the 2202 will be good too.

I didn’t get the DIR-882 that long ago and it was meant to replace the now dead DIR-655. When the DIR-655 died I thought one of the new mesh routers would be a good idea.

You mentioned Nest. The thermostat disconnects from the DIR-882 from time to time but other than that it seems ok.

The DIR-1360 has settled a bit but it had lots of odd stuff going on with the WAN setting just disappearing (just once thus far) and still my Pixel 4 and other wireless stuff just don’t seem to like it. When I restart the phone all the other Wi-Fi networks in the area show up right away but the DIR-1360 network takes like a minute to show up and then the phone will show a connection and then it will go away and then connect again, then it seems to stick. With the DIR-882 turned on the phone would keep connecting to it, so I turned it off and then the phone would connect to the Xfinity neighborhood Wi-Fi so I “forgot” it on the phone and then the phone would connect to the Nest Hub. Each time I was forcing it to connect to the new DIR-1360 Wi-Fi network. It would for a bit and then it would connect to like anything else it could.

On top of all this I see that the DIR-1360 is the only one of the new EXO that can have a guest network. Is that right or is the online compare messed up? They do seem to keep removing stuff. The DIR-882 lets you disable connection by setting a schedule on the clients page I think but the DIR-1360 don’t seem to have any way to do this.

Maybe D-Link it not a good match for Nest/Google devices? Though the LG TV also don’t seem like it.
Not sure if I have a bum unit or if a firmware will fix it someday.

My guess is that I’ll have the same issues with any of the new EXO Mesh routers.

So do I :
Just keep the DIR-882 and forget about the mesh stuff for now.
Try a DIR-1960, DIR-2660 or DIR-3060 and see if they behave better.
Try the COVR-3902 with the matured firmware.

I have a 882 as well. WIFi is good on it. You could add a DAP to help add wifi coverage.

I have a 2660 and 2680 and they do pretty good for wifi as well. However I have a NetGear Orbi wifi mesh system which I use in AP mode behind my D-Link routers most of the time. No experience with the 3060.

I've loaned out my COVR3902 and have never had complaints about it. People like that one. I wish we could get access to a 2nd extender though.

The DAPs seem odd to me. They have to be in range of the router and you have to have another one or two (can they use Smart Connect?) Wi-Fi network names? The DAP-1860 is $150, wouldn’t you be better off with another DIR-882 for $127? The mesh extenders can use the same SSID and link from the Ethernet port so it can be out of range of the router???

They never made extra extenders for the COVR3902? That is too bad. I don't think I'd need more than one. Even if you could get one from another kit and sell off the router, would the second extender even work?

You wouldn't have a need for a 2nd DIR-882. Only works in AP or router mode. Not a extender.

For odd reasons, USA wasn't allowed access to 2nd extenders for the 3902. While Canada and other regions had access to additional extenders which do work.

But with a DAP extender you would have another Wi-Fi network name to connect to on that side of the house or whatever anyway. If they cost just as much or more why not just use another AP/Router, probably be a little fast more stable? Maybe if you don’t have Ethernet access in the area?

For odd reasons? Were they afraid of people blasting their neighbors? Somehow everyone’s Wi-Fi around me is almost as strong as my router inside the house.
