blocked startup program - connect.exe
« on: August 26, 2009, 09:56:13 AM »

Problem:
Windows Vista User Account Control (UAC) prevents Connect.exe ("Shareport Utility") from launching at startup.
UAC reports that Connect.exe has an "Unidentified Publisher"; therefore, the user must right-click the taskbar icon and choose "allow" for the program to run at every user logon.

--  PC Shareport Utility version: 1.1.0 R1 (SXUPTP Driver : 3.3.4.0) was downloaded and installed from the D-Link website.
--  Router version: DIR-655 firmware 1.32NA

Question
1. Is there a signed version available?
2. Aside from disabling UAC, is there another workaround?

Note: I tried adding connect.exe to the task scheduler to run at user logon and removing it from the startup config, but this solution did not work.
