Default Wireless signal

I have a DIR-655 wireless router.  I have successfully set up a secured wireless access setting which is working as expected.  The intent of my secured wireless set up is to limit the late hours for my children to text via their iTouch. 

The problem them I am running into is that while the secured wireless access signal (very good) is working according to the schedule I set up, my router still sends a default dlink signal outside of my set schedule.  Example: The secured wireless signal is set to shut down at 10PM, but my home desktop and the iTouch can still access wireless signal after 10PM via the default dlink signal.

The default signal (very low) does not broadcast like my secured signal, but the desktop and iTouch can pick it up.  It isn't good enough to do streaming videos or anything like that, but strong enough to send text messages.

Any suggestions?

I have tried different options and settings but cannot get the default signal to not be available.

Hi,

I "think" you may be referring to the "GUEST" zone ?  You can disable this feature from inside the routers setups.

I think this feature was added around firmware Version 1.20 (??) or so... I use FW 1.21 and it has it....  Many people use it for their own reasons...personally I have it disabled.

If your intent is to try and block, or cutdown on your kids texting, good luck...  The best bet is to make them lock  their ipods up at night in YOUR safe.  All they need is a nearby neighbor with wifi and you can't stop them.  Depending on where you live, finding nearby neighbors with unprotected wifi is usually not a problem.  You could always go around to your neighbors and ask them to encrypt their wifi.  Trust me...I have similiar issues here....

Appreciate your feedback - I did find the "Guest" zone and it was enabled.  I have disabled it so hopefully that will do the trick. 

That is my intent was to limit their texting ability and agree that they can do so off of the neighbors.  We live in SD so the issue is not as big as when we lived in the cities.  We have implemented the rules that the iTouches stay downstairs out of the bedrooms at nigh.
