So, I've been having the SIP related VOIP problems many of you have been experiencing as well.
I have confirmation from DLink that they are aware there is a problem, and they are working to solve it.
In the mean time, I engineered a solution that will get me by without having to return the 825 until they provide an adequate fix. It involves 2 routers... preferably one that you know was working before... which most of us have... so this method will probably work for you too.
Background:
I upgraded to the 825 from an old WBR 1310... which had no problems with my SIP based VOIP.
Solution:
1) Configure the old router to a fixed IP address other than that of the 825.. i.e. my 1310 is at 192.168.1.2, my 825 is at 192.168.1.1
2) Turn off DHCP on the 825, turn on DHCP on the old router.
3) Set the old router to DMZ the 825.
4) Plug your WAN into the WAN port on the old router.
5) Plug a LAN port from your 825 to a LAN port on the old router.
6) Plug your SIP phone into a LAN port on the old router.
7) Plug any other wired devices into the 825, and let the 825 manage your wireless connections.
Reboot / reset the network connections on your devices so they obtain their IP information from the old router (because probably the Gateway is now different).
Bam, watch your network including SIP now work.
So basically what's happening is:
1) Your old router is now communicating directly with the WAN and forwarding all traffic not already routed elsewhere (i.e. to the phone directly plugged into it) to the 825.
2) Both routers have static IP addresses... the old router's managing DHCP.
3) You still can take advantage of the speed of the 825 for your wireless and wired connections, up to the point where it hits your WAN... which certainly isn't Gigabit or 300mbs anyhow.
Hope this helps!
